observing pt 2

Clouds make good sunsets, but they don't make for good observing. We managed about half a night of observing before the clouds and humidity coerced the telescope operator into worrying about precipitation (refraction by rain on the surface of the mirror or corrector lens is very bad). We couldn't look at my science at all because of 35 mph winds blowing steadily from the south, which are bad for giant 20-foot diameter primary mirrors / glass sails.

AZ weather: 2
action's science: 0

Mountaintops are very strange places when there are gusting knock-you-over winds and it's new-moon-with-clouds pitch dark.
